From rock stars to pundits From the Backline has always welcomed great guests to the show. Here's a sample of some of the personalities that have joined Mark and Jorge to chat about football, the Whitecaps and more!

KENDALL WASTON (EP. 150)

Since joining the Vancouver Whitecaps in 2014, Kendall has become one of their best and most popular players. Many Whitecap fans will remember Waston's memorable header on the last day of the 2014 season that sealed their place in the MLS playoffs.

Waston, along with teammate Christian Bolaños, are regulars in the Costa Rican national team, and Kendall has made several appearances for Los Ticos since joining the Whitecaps.

Sem joined WFC2 at the beginning of the 2016 season, and Mark caught up with the Dutch centreback for a chat after one-all draw against Sounders FC2 at UBC Thunderbird Stadium back on Aug. 6th.

DANIEL SQUIZZATO (REPEAT GUEST)

Daniel Squizzato is the Canadian national team reporter for MLSSoccer.com and Canadian Soccer News. Squizz is also covering the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio for Olympic.ca. He currently co-hosts the Canadian Footy Experiment podcast with former national team player Claire Rustad, and he hosted the Some Canadian Guys Talking About Soccer Podcast that ran from 2009-2012.

Daniel is an expert on the Canadian national team programs, and is the FTBL go-to guy for our national team coverage.

perry solkowski (ep. 140)

Perry is an experienced sports broadcaster and was the sports director at CTV British Columbia for almost 20 years. He is a veteran of hundreds of NHL, NBA, MLS, CFL and Olympic broadcasts and has been TSN's sideline reporter for the Whitecaps since 2012.

Wiso Vazquez (ep. 136)

Wiso is the creator of Fut Mex Nation, the host of the Mexican Soccer Show and the Mexican National Team Correspondent for ESPN710AM Radio in Phoenix, AZ. We chatted with Wiso in Ep. 136 about El Tri's disastrous exit at the Copa América Centenario.

MARIUS RØVDE (EP. 107 & 131)

Marius has been the goalkeeper coach for the Vancouver Whitecaps FC since 2011, and has a wealth of playing and coaching experience in Europe and around the world.  Originally from Trondheim, Norway, Marius started his professional career with Rosenborg BK, and played for several other clubs in Norway, Scotland and Wales before retiring as a professional footballer in 2006.  Before joining Whitecaps FC, Marius was the goalkeeping coach for the Trinidad & Tobago Football Federation, and also coached in the Ontario Soccer Association (OSA), Durham Region Soccer Association (DRSA) and the professional Trinidadian club Joe Public FC.  Marius also holds multiple coaching credentials including a UEFA Goalkeeper 'A' Coaching License and a UEFA 'B' Coaching License.

Alan koch (EP. 130)

Alan is the head coach of the Vancouver Whitecaps FC2, who play in the USL. Alan took charge at WFC2 prior to their inaugural USL season in 2015. Mark visited with Alan to chat about the hot start to WFC2's 2016 season.

Hugo is a contributor for FutbolMLS.com,which is the official MLS website in Spanish. Hugo is also one of the regular co-hosts of Tiro Libre, the Spanish language podcast of FutbolMLS.com. Hugo brings a wealth of knowledge about MLS and he is our resident Liga MX expert.

MAURO ROSALES (EP. 115)

Currently with FC Dallas, Mauro played for the Whitecaps from 2014-15. Prior to his time in Vancouver he also played for Chivas USA and the Seattle Sounders, where he was named MLS Newcomer of the Year. Mauro has also played for AFC Ajax in Holland as well as River Plate and Newell's Old Boys in Argentina. Rosales was a member of the Argentinian men's team that won an Olympic Gold Medal in Athens in 2004.

VICTOR BLASCO (eP. 113)

Victor is a skilled attacking player, who joined Whitecaps FC2 for their inaugural USL season in 2015. Prior to joining WFC2 Victor played one season for the Vancouver Island University Mariners in Nanaimo, and helped his team qualify for the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) national tournament. Thanks in part to Victor's two goals and assists the Mariners finished runners up, and Victor was named a tournament all-star.

Victor is originally from Spain and started his soccer career at the famed La Masia at FC Barcelona, and was scouted by WFC2 head coach Alan Koch when he was coaching at Simon Fraser University.

JOHN CULLEN (EP. 112)

John is, among other things including a curler and teacher, a very talented stand up comedian. John is also a long-time Whitecaps fan and season ticket holder and he joined us in Ep. 112 to talk about Bond villans, driving lessons, bro-culture and more. We even talked about the Whitecaps (barely).
