Midfielder Fatawu Safiu has been named to the USL Team of the Week for his impressive performance in the two-all draw against LA Galaxy II last Friday night.
Safiu entered the match in the 62nd minute when WFC2 were trailing Los Dos two-nil. Within ten minutes of entering the fray Safiu scored giving the Thundercaps hope of salvaging a point from the match. Safiu's goal was set up by a lovely cross from Erik Hurtado, who was on loan from the Whitecaps' MLS team.
Five minutes later WFC2's comeback was complete when Safiu released striker, and fellow substitute, Kyle Greig with a perfectly placed pass. Greig snuck behind the LA backline and tapped the ball under LA goalkeeper Clement Diop to draw WFC2 level.
Whitecaps FC2 are back in action on Wednesday, April 27th when they play Swope Park Rangers at 5pm PT. The match will be broadcast live on WhitecapsFC2.com.
